University? Is ECU building something at the coast or ECSU? I've never ridden on Highway 12 in anything but a car/truck. Would probably be a good ride with a hell of a cross wind though. I think it's supposed to be close to 80 around here anyway.
There was a time when I was **** and cared. I don't care any more what people think and ride when it suits ME (no pun intended) that's when I do what I think is best. Pack accordingly and RIDE.
I most certainly would have. I got the chance to ride up to North Carolina in the end of February for a few days and jumped all over it.
This about it this way.. If I had taken my Chevy truck the 413mls one way I would have needed 3 fill ups there and back. At $80/fill up I would have spent $240 in gas alone. Even if my company would have paid for my gas, I would have saved them about $180 taking my bike.
Granted I had a place to stay, but a 5 day trip (830 mls there and back, 740ish mls while there), all my food and some other small expenses while there cost me about $150. Cheapest soul therapy session ever.
SWEET! SWEET! SWEET! Just got back in. Weather could not have been nicer. Even, the people on the road were in a good mood. Little over 400 miles. The bike ran great, especially since I had the new motor mount installed. Totally differnent bike now. And with the SEII's Big City Baffles, old men on the pouch would wave and guys on the road would roll down their windows to listen to the exhaust. Even had a lady flag me by so I wouldn't have to be in the traffic flow. Needed a good ride for the soul. Only 2 complaints. First, the wife is pissed at me for some reason and second, I become a billboard for every big yellow bug!! I can live with those.
