Default Dealer mistake??? HELP NEEDED.

Hi,
I just got my bike back from the dealers, having just bought an '03 fxdx with 30k on the clock, I wanted to make sure there were no imminent issues....

Anyway, when collecting the bike, they told me the front wheel had been "fitted incorrectly", so they took the tyre off, refitted it, then the wheel the "correct" way around....

Now, I don't believe that the wheel was fitted incorrectly in the first place, and now, the brake rotors, which are marked "LEFT" and "RIGHT", are now on the opposite side to how they should be according to their markings.

Have they messed up??

Apparently there was a "directive" from HD regarding "Brake resonance" with Cast wheels.....and the solution was to fit the discs the wrong way around.....

Sounds like BS to me, but guys I need your help!!

Sounds like the tech who put it back together just wasn't paying attention. I really wouldn't think it would matter, but they must be marked L & R for a reason..

Maybe the tire was on the wheel backwards and the solution from the dealer was to reverse it?

Take it back and ask why they're switched and see if they'll fix it. They should.

I actually done this myself had a slight vibration when braking so I took the left rotor put on the right the right rotor put on the left problem solved don't believe it really matters as long as a tire rotation is in the right direction the rim and or rotors does not matter

Hi everyone,
The tyre was fitted correctly with regard to direction/rotation....

What they said was, that the wheel was fitted incorrectly and it wasn't central in the forks, causing one of the calipers pistons to be further in to compensate......

What I think happened, is the tech that was working on it, got the spacers for the wheel on the wrong way, so when he came to fit it, he got confused......then came to the conclusion there was a fault.

Even though the wheel came out OK...........

Grab a maintenance manual off of ebay, about 40$, and go to the Harley site and look for tech bulletins for a 03 FXDX. I just went out and looked at my 02 FXDX and I will be dang if it will make any difference as long as the tire rotation is correct.
