Just go to your local parts store and pick up some Champion RA8HC plugs.
(Champion makes HD plugs, and the RA8HC is the same plug as the HD 6R12).

Your call on the what is going on is right on.
I was right in the middle of putting back in the OEM plugs like you said, but with my "all thumbs" syndrome in full gear....I dropped one and it broke the tip off. Sheet!!
So that is out, as I don't have another set and it's 700 miles to San Diego at the local H-D dealer.
Surely there has to be scads of guys who have changed out from OEM to a NGK plug.
In the furtherance of our knowledge base, I would be interested to hear of any similar problems with using a non OEM plug.

Just a heads up, you're not supposed to apply anti-sieze to coated plugs like NGK.

LOL I learn something almost every time I visit this site!
3/8 for sure but may as well get a 1/4 and 1/2 also if you can. The quarter inch for things like primary cover screws and 1/2 for axles. Make sure to keep them set on zero when not in use. Harbor Freight wrenches seem to be as good as Craftsman or Kobalt (probably made by the same Chinese factory) and are very reasonable. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...=torque+wrench
