l have a 2009 fat bob with stock drag bars. Riding any distance hurts my shoulders and lower back. Should I go apes or 10" t bars. Apes look to be more comfortable plus I wouldn't have tall risers experience exposed. Help is greatly appreciated been trying to decide this for almost 6 months. Also any input on a brand would be great I would like to stay with 11/4 or body but not 1 inch they seem weak to me being so small in diameter. By the way I'm 6'3"
Thanks guys
I would go apes. I had 12 inch tbars and I didn't like them. Couldn't push them forward. I have 19 inch santee apes now. I love them! They are1 1/4 inch bars. Check out carlini bars. They make some awesome apes! I'm 6 foot
I've had lots of different bars on a lot of different bikes over the years, and my favorites have always turned out to be low drag bars.
As comfort goes, you have a little natural forward lean, and that pretty much counters wind pressure.
But that's just my experience. Unless you are OK with lots of expensive experimenting, don't make a decision without actually putting in some solid seat time with various bars on bikes which already have them.
Lots of people here seem to be a little hung up on defending the decisions they've already made, so you've got to watch out for that.

I'd also suggest apes. I think anything over 8-10" t-bar looks bad (for lack of better description that may offend), and sounds like you would need/want something taller than that. I am going with apes for reasons you have mentioned. I am 6'1" and am going with 14" bars and 2" riser. You may want a taller bar. Most companies make a 1 1/4" bar. Chosing which one to go with is a matter of preference.
Just switched my Widglide from the stock semi-apes, to the lowest bars I could fit without the throttle cables hitting the tank. My wife (who also rides it) and I both agree that it's much more comfortable.
But hey, people who are looking for an excuse to switch to apes probably won't agree.

Ummm, not sure why your referencing me. And although I don't need your approval, nor permission I will explain. I have done some riding on bikes (Dynas and others) with apes, and done much more riding with drag bars. And am more confortable with apes, period. Thus the reason to switch. To each his own I guess. Just looking at my riding profile, and you could clearly see my back is hunched over and even appears less comfortable. I happen to really like the looks of drag bars, and like them fine for short trips around town. But 1+ hour and my shoulders feel the tension.
