i see how the black harness works but what is the purpose of the male terminal part?
Attaching the new light's wiring to the connector 73106-96 BK enables you to mount/take of the new tail light without having to cut into the OEM harness.
The six pin socket housing + socket pins are at the end of the OEM wiring harness and are connected to the OEM tail light circuit board.
Mounting the new tail light you probably won't need the OEM circuit board.
In order to make a decent connection from the new taillight to the OEM rear lighting harness (under the fender) you could use the pin housing 73106-96BK and 5 pin terminals 73190-96.
Does anyone make a similar kit for the newer WGs, that replaces the rear turn signals with a single unit? I feel like I have seen one that mounts under the fender like this kit: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...der-edge-light
I'm thinking of ditching my turns all together in order to get some cheap detachable bags. Maybe I'll start a new thread...
SudHD - I bought the same light and will hopefully be here this week. Putting bags on the wife's Dyna and needed to loose the turn signals - I never liked them anyway as they stuck out too far. The integrated light is my solution.
I noticed on the light that there is one black ground wire. Whereas the OEM signals and the brake light have grounds. If I look at your picture, it appears that you routed the ground wire from the light to the 4 pin brake harness and just ran a single wire to the signals. Is that correct? I guess it would make sense since the whole unit is one unit and is grounded in one place and you just use the single wires for the feed from the signals.

It does look nice! Is the light smaller than the OEM? The corners look more rounded. Also can you see into the clear window that is there to illuminate the plate? that is my only concern - I don't want to be looking down into wires and circuits....
Finally - did the turn signals work without adding any load balancer or will I be needing that as well. This is for a 2009 FXD

I haven't seen a complete light for the WG but it would be easy to add one of these to the existing tailight:
