Strange, but when I tipped the top of the shield forward, instead of the bottom, I got buffeting relief. Different windshields I guess.
May look strange on a Harley, but a Laminar Lip at the top of any flat windshield makes a positive change. Have one on mine. With the tilt, and the lip, the bad air flow is about 4" above my helmet... tomp
Yeah, the more upright your windshield is, the higher it will lift the airflow over your helmet. That's why it doesn't flow directly in-line. I'm sure there was some wind tunnel time tuning the angle for an average height rider. Or at least I'd think there would have been.
I have a windshield that tips forward about the same as yours on my Street Bob. I need all the room to put the mini apes forward because of my long arms.
I have no pic but the bars almost touch the shield. I agree that the look is a little off not being in line with the forks. But, I need it for the function.
I tipped mine forward and got some relief but not enough. Then I had the windshield cut down about 3" - bad idea. This is actually my second shield - but with the bottom kicked out it's just right.

I really doubt Harley even rode a bike with their windshield on, much less do any type of wind tunnel test. The buffeting is really bad!
Feels like my helmet is being pounded, or how it would vibrate if my head was against the motor. WTF!!
I think it's because there isn't enough tilt in the windshield to to redirect the wind upwards smoothly.
Rather the shield is too flat and vertical it causes the wind to become turbulent!
I'm gonna try and tilt it back to achieve a smoother air flow over the windshield. That should improve the buffeting. I may end up fabricating custom bracket to alter the angle of the windshield.
But I need to find the ideal angle first.
