I have a 05 dyna with the Sport windshield. How much better do the compact and touring windshields block the wind? I really would not mind blocking a little more wind and the option to remove the windshield would be nice during cleaning. I bought the sport because I didnt have the money for a more expensive windshield at the time. Now I do.
Here are my choices. I really like the skull with wings logo one but I would get a touring windshield if it made a big difference in wind blockage.
I bought a Memphis Slim on Ebay (new) and put a skull w/ wings medallion on it myself. Less than $150 in all. Here is an earlier picture of mybike w/ windshield installed.
I too went witht he Memphis Shades Slim and am very happy with it - more so than the factory detachables of the past. Memphis Shades is coming out with a new attachment system that I saw at Bike Week in Daytona. They will doign away with the metal buttons ont he top of the fork tubes and going with a cam-clamp affair that seems much cleaner. Should be out around May form what the rep told me. Existing windshields will work, but the harware will need to be swapped to the new system.

Ijust purchaesd a Memphis Shades Fat 17" for my '06 SB. I too like it much better than the HD quick detach I had on my last bike. I'm used to the look of the mounting hardware now...Did the dealer give any indication of price for the new clamp mount?

Can't wait for the new hardware! Thanks for the info Jehu!
You folks that have the Memphis Slim or Fat shield, are you experiencing any helmet buffeting from wind coming from under the shield? I bought the Del Rio sport shield and although I like the looks of the sport shield, I'm getting some serious helmet buffeting above 45mph and the offending air is definitely coming from under the shield, not over the shield. And was wondering if this was the case with the Slim or Fats for run a little lower around the head light then the sport shields.
Rather than buying another shield, take your left arm and make a salute and put it across your chest at 60 mph and see if the updraft behind the shield is eliminated, if so, go to the right border of the main page and check out Jack's Flaps AeroVest, it will take care of that dreaded updraft and make your ride sweet---jack

Hey, thanks for the tip!!!!!!! I did already determine that the wind is coming from under the shield by raising my left arm in a salute fashion. Actually, this is how Iâve been riding lately, always saluting [:-]
Looks like Jackâs flap vest is exactly what I need.
