I brought this baby home a month ago, and I have been lurking around here. I made my introduction in the newbie area, and I wanted to post here since this is where I will be spending most of my time. Onto the details...
2001 FXDL, 2 owners, 3K miles, bone stock except for the V&H shortshots. The PO lived near the beach so it had some slight rust and pitting in some places. It also had a goofy looking tinted windshield, luggage rack, and trunk bag.
The first order of business was to get rid of those awful chunky turn signals and add a little safety. I got a Badlands run/turn/brake controller and some deuce style LEDs. Also got some shorter mounts to pull them closer in. I also had to remove the engine guard as it was pretty scuffed up. More pictures to follow...

Congrats. It's a nice looking bike. It's still a virgin. 13 years old and has 3000 miles? I get the feeling you're going to treat it better. And I mean by riding it a lot.
Very nice looking Low Rider. Definitely looks better with the accessories removed.
I think you should check how old the tires are. With the bike being 13 years old and only 3000 miles on it they maybe the original tires and just as old. Check the four digit manufacture date on the side wall. The first two digits are the week and the last two are the year of manufacture. If that is the case then the rubber is probably dry rotted and should be replaced very soon.
@Two Lane Tramp, the bag was in pretty sad shape and is now residing in a landfill somewhere. sorry.
@woodsy3232, yeah the tires were one of the first things I checked. They are the originals with a manufacture date of 2000. Surprisingly they aren't dry rotted or cracked at all, but I'm sure the rubber is hard as hell by now. Those will be replaced after Christmas, probably with some Metzelers.
@nevil, yes, I will be showing this bike lots of love AND miles
Here's a shot of the new rear turn signals. They are MUCH brighter and now have the run/turn/brake function.
I also wanted to ditch the engine guard, but I wanted to keep the highway pegs until I decide if I'll get forward controls or not. I cut the pegs off the guard, ground down the welds, hit them with a flap disc and then polished them up. They're not perfect, but they work for now...
