I have a 15" HD detachable windshield that I don't use more times than I do use - when I do use it, I use it more for long highway runs than the backroads I tend to ride here in Colorado.
I just ordered a new 15" dark gray tinted windshield from Cee Bailey and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with running the windshield without the crossbar installed for a little bit cleaner look - or is there too much deflection in the windshield that the crossbar needs to be installed?
Just try it. When I bought one from the it was so much thicker I had to by new hardware to bolt it to the supports. It will probably be fine start slow and check it out.
I felt like I had Captain America's shield sitting on the front of my bike.
Take care.

It probably won't matter with the thicker material, but I always felt a little more secure with the crossbar in mine. However I just installed the MS batwing fairing and it doesn't have a crossbar in it and it is just fine, so you are probably ok. By the way where in Colorado do you ride?
Thanks - I still have the original windshield on the detachable mount as I await the new windshield from Cee Bailey at arrive - I will plan to ride it without the crossbar and see how it performs before I mount the new one.
I'm in Littleton just west of Denver along the foothills - there are so many great canyon roads between Boulder & the Springs to ride out here - each with it's own unique scenery and twisting roads - makes seeing this state on a bike that much more enjoyable
