Deuuuce, I'm pretty sure that if someone leaves an Alcantara, or leather, seat out in the full elements 24/7 365 it may not wear the best even as tough as it is.
I think these seat options are for the folks who don't let their bike stay exposed for very long, or at all, to the elements other than sun and for fun. They may also be focused on creating a unique and individual work of art.

Hand cream will discolor it. Which would include sunscreen, passenger and driver hands, etc. Sweat will also affect it. My butt sweats in the summer, lol!
A mutual friend wears gloves when driving his C63 AMG and gets made fun of every time.....
It wouldn't be my choice for a daily/weekend rider, but it is nice.
