Talking HELP! Primary Cover Replacement issue

Hi! This is my first Harley, a 2012 Dyna Switchback. I'm attempting to black out my bike, all except the pipes. My next step is to replace the primary cover, not by myself of course. Well...I purchased a black, new, shiny primary cover, exactly what I want..but it has an extra little bolt hole that my bike does not have a need for. It says it's compatible with my bike, however, I cant seem to find a plug for that little hole. Harley says there isn't one, but I don't believe that! Where can I find one!

Thanks! Yes, I'm a girl and it shows!

Where is the hole? Is it in the center of the cover? Could be for mid controls. Too bad you cant post pics yet. And welcome to the forum.

is it right in the middle of the cover? If so thats where a peg and shifter used to be, you can just plug it and not worry about it. Any plastic plug will do.

Yes. the one right in the center. What type of plug can I use to ensure that it wont leak fluid?

Good question. I dont have that hole but im sure someone has pluged it before. Little to no pressure behind it and its way above the oil level. Wont take much of a plug to seal it. Harley prolly has one as well.

Harley says they don't have it, and OF COURSE want me to spend a butt load to do something crazy to it, or have my original one powder coated. They looked through the book and couldn't find one...but there MUST be one!

I would check the HD forward control kit and see if the plug that comes with the kit can be purchased by itself. Ask your dealer what they use when they install forwards on your model.

I run mids and I had to tare into my primary already. That hole for mids is just for the shift rod to go through. There is no fluid that goes into that hole. Although Id plug it with something to make it look nice
