Power where you need it is one of the characteristics of a 2-1 pipe. Shortshots are a quick way to rob yourself of some low end grunt. For the most part just about any tuner on the market will fill your needs for a basic pipe and filter swap, so go with what you can afford.

Any suggestions for my first bike?

Thanks
I had a set of the short shots on my Sportster and they are really loud, but if that is what you want then ok, but the tuner I would go with the SEPST since your bike is still under warranty. I got that one on mine and it runs really great, no worries.

When I bought my 2011 Wide Glide It came with the short shots on it And the Harley Davidson download. I bought the micro tuner from Fuel Moto Along with their stage 1 air cleaner Put it on and a bike ran much better No more low rpm surging And it does seem to run a little bit cooler.I would not recommend the short shots.
When I get the extra cash I will be going to a 2 in to 1Exhaust

Short shorts are probably the cheapest exhaust out there .. that's the only reason I got them at the time, I'll eventually upgrade to a 2to1 here in the next couple of months.

Personally I don't think they are overly loud .. as long as you aren't a douchebag that sits at red lights and stop signs and revs all the time. I'll agree that there is some loss of power and probably MPG as well.

I'm running the microtuner as well.

Went V&H Pro Pipe Chrome, Fuel Moto Pro-Billet intake, and Fuel Moto mapped Dyno-jet PC-V.

Very pleased with the results, good power increase, easy install, simple plug and play with future motor-upgrade features.. and great sales and service support form Fuel Moto.

What ever you decide, do yourself a solid and check them out first!

Choices and combinations are endless here, you really opened up an old can of worms with this thread, but hey everyone else does it too! Just try not to start an oil debate LOL. Otherwise welcome to the forums!
Best power is a 2/1 system. IMO best looks are 2/2 pipes with only slight power loss, Short Shots forget it, loud as hell , no guts but a sporty no nonsense look.
Tuners well, just about any tuner can work or made to work once you put the bike on a dyno. That costs big so you only want to do it once -in a perfect world if there was such a thing- but we love harley's and we love to tweak them so just about the best out there is the power vision by dynojet , and the best place to get one and have lifetime support and maps is from fuelmototusa.
that being said you should read up and try to keep in mind what you need and expect to need in the future before you buy. Of course you could sell and loose a bit when you upgrade.
One more thing lots of guys are going to say i have this or that and my bike runs perfectly, you can really only tell after you upgrade weather there is any improvement or not so it is all subject to the seat o' the pants technology in the end.

You could have your bike dyno tuned one day and have a great outcome and the very next day get totally different #'s on the the very same machine run by the same guy.

I have short shots on my 07. I like how they look and sound, and in the end that's all that matters. If YOU want them, get them. You won't notice a hp or two...

I agree. Pro vision at Fuel Moto is the best. Great customer service. They will guide you right through it .
