Front end set up giving me a headache
I'm assuming when I call traxxion dynamics that they will help me with what spring is right for me but is the spacer that comes with the spring a universal size that needs to be cut down for my specific application? I know squidhead on here was going through this same process and was saying that setting the sag can be a pain, but like he, I was aiming to set the sag right without the pre load adjusters so they could be used to dial in the bike for different scenarios.
Also I consider myself pretty mechanically incline and have a good selection of tools to work with, is this something that "joe the weekend mechanic" can pull off in the garage? Any special tools I need to purchase?
Any input is greatly appreciated I know this topic has been covered a lot on here I just want to make sure I'm spending money on the right products
They haven't shipped yet. They told me they are on back order and would ship after the holidays. I'm not sure how they plan to provide spacers.
The writer, Mud, installs a set or Ricor Intiminators which are valves designed to modulate the fork oil in the stock "open bath" type hydraulic front end suspension that comes stock on most Harleys ...
An alternative to the Intiminators are the Race Tech Gold Valve cartridge emulators ...
As I understand the difference between these two systems are that the Intiminators have a proprietary oil modulating valve system that uses inertia to smooth the flow ... vice a strictly spring operated system for the Gold Valves ...
There is some discussion of the Intiminators on this thread ... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...n-upgrade.html
There are several vendors for replacement springs as an alternative to reusing the stock springs ... Race Tech, Works, Progressive to name a few ...
Another option for some of the other model bikes are Progressive monotube cartridge type suspension ... unfortunately not an option for the Dynas ... don't know if it is in development or not ...
Good luck sorting it out ... there are a lot of good resources for the DIY-er on here if you know where to look ... and a lot of helpful folks who can point you in the right direction ...
