Been thinking for a while about some chrome fork lowers. I know I can get them through HD for a sizable chunk of $$. I've also seen other places online where you can send yours to be chromed or an exchange program. Anybody have any experience with this? I'm concerned about quality, cause I plan on keeping this bike for a long time. I'm assuming the HD ones are very good quality, the rest of their chrome seems pretty good. But $450 is a chunk of cash.
I had mine chromed and saved about $100.
If I could do again though, I'd buy HD's so then I could also do the stockers in PC black to change out to.
You could also sell yours if you buy HD's.
Chrome in CA. is crap, due to all the EPA regs and environmental issues we have to cater to here... don't know where you are or if you have good chrome there.
I have the complete HD chrome front end kit with axle caps/spacers, stem nut cap and fork cap and dust covers for $530. I think it was worth it. Nice quality and really improves the look.

Reindeer, it's about time, isn't it? Have you ever considered polish? It saves money, the bottom line is, if you ever scratch it, you can fix it. Most ppl said polished sliders are hard to keep, it is wrong! I polish them once a year and windex clean after ride. Never had problem, stay shinny the whole time.
For chrome sliders, I will get them straight from Harley.
If you watch ebay long enough, you can find the HD ones for under 300. There are also some sellers doing a core exchange. The non-chrome ones are not worth much. I sold mine for 50 bucks.

Did you clear coat them? They look really good, any tips? I'm doing my front suspension next weekend, maybe I will polish these up while it's apart.
I use Autosol, some ppl use mothers aluminum polish. I found Autosol works much better. However I put a light coat of mothers polish at the end for protection.
