i am 5'9, used to run 16.5 apes with forwards. had to have stirups to keep the legs from cramping...now i run floorboards with 12.5 bars and i really dig them. if you run apes may want to just try a stock set of st bob bars, the 06 bars i think where 12 and the 07+ where 10" and you can get them all over for a decent price. hell someone on here may just send them to you. I wold try that first as it wold not req a cable change
I am 6' 2" everyday with stock 06 Bob apes and forward controls and they stretch me out just fine. 14" would be probably perfect, but again your seat and position will affect your reach too. My seat is low slung and I have the bars pushed forward a good amount (more then sig pic is showing) which helps this combo work pretty good for me, shorter person not so much.
All that said the stock Bob apes might be perfect for you to try and they are cheap!

Yeah I guess that bit of information would have helped. Yes I think the ride is great. It fits me perfect. Put tracker bars on it for about a mile, but immediately switched back to apes. For me apes are the way to go.
I'm 5' 3", and needed the reduced reach kit for the forward controls. I run harley mini-apes on a set of 4" pullback risers (top of bars is at my shoulders). I also run a Mustang solo reduced reached seat.
This setup is very comfortable for me. The earlier note about changing bars is good advice, watch the cost of shifting cables.
5'10 here with 17s and forwards...was fine for me...i find im able to sit farther back and more straight up with this setup...also the reason why i love it....i was always hunched over with the smaller bars...imho....i think you will be fine with anything under 14 with the forwards...especially with the wide array of seats that will move you forward or back...trust you wont regret switching to apes...good luck
I'm thinking maybe 12"-14". I'd like to stay away from pull back risers if possible. What's the reduced reach kit? I don't think I've seen that. I can reach mine just fine, though the new S&S a/c cover might get in the way a bit. I liked the Ness like in the sig pic because my leg fit under it.
I need to get new cables anyway. I have the Sterlite cables from Magnum, and they were fine with the CV carb, but they are a little too short now with the S&S. I'm just waiting until I find bars before I buy new ones.
I've only found a couple styles of apes I like, and dammit, they're never the $100 ebay bars...they're always the $300-$400 specialty bars
