OP. I put 13" shocks and better front suspension on my bike. Ground clearance is substantially better. My heels will touch when riding hard, but that's it.
SLV the cows get a little restless at times, but that doesn't matter much at least we beat Alabama in the Sugarbowl. Rough roads full of potholes, cracks and roadsnakes, but otherwise I guess it is about the same. When I was in the Army back in the midseventies I was stationed at the 24th Infantry Division in Fort Stewart, but assigned to the med clinic at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah. The wife and I still think of Savannah, the land of warmer winters and of course that world famous Carey Hilliards seafood, yum, yum, yum I can still taste those shrimp. Ride safe my friend.

So, the NE Oklahoma area hasn't changed much!

Carey Hilliards has gone a bit downhill. It's now like the Denny!s of seafood it's going to be mid 20's the next few mornings too. People aren't used to it.

OP, adjusting your stock shock preload to 4 or 5 will help with this if you're not wanting to change shocks & exhaust right away. Won't eliminate it, but will make a little difference.
When I picked up my new FXDC in spring of 2012, my shocks were set from the factory at setting 1. I didn't realize this for a while, and wondered why I was bottoming out sometimes when riding 2 up..

It has changed some I guess socially and some of the laws that govern the people a bit, but all in all not much different than other places in the country. I could elaborate further, but I might get a letter from the moderator and of course we don't want that. I hear you about the weather, when we were there snow was forecast for the Savannah area and they dismissed school even before it started. Ohh well soon it will be spring and warmer weather and cleaning the bugs off the windshield and all that. Maybe winter is not so bad after all??? Naw scratch that winter still stinks. Ride safe my friend.

. It is a Progressive and it is set to the highest level of tension to assist with cornering----but it does have more travel than it looks like. I am very happy with this set up !

Ok, thanks, I see mine are adjusted to 1 as well.
Does cranking up the pre-load affect the ride?
I'm kind of resigned to the fact I will have to pay the Harley Tax (13" shocks) to avoid scraping parts in the turns.

It won't affect the ride much...a little stiffer, but will actually ride much better when 2 up. Personally, I ride with mine on 4 or 5 all the time...I prefer the ride and I think it makes it "crisper". Set them on 4 and see what you think or if you notice any improvement...it may decrease shock collapse when loading in the corner and minimize your scraping.
IMO, before you do shocks get a good exhaust system with some clearance. Mine is the D&D Fatcat...there are 2 options for this on the Dyna, straight back & angled up. Mine are the angled up, which eliminated scraping. You can't notice it much from my sig pic, but they do start angling up starting about the trans cover.

Thanks Sharkman, I'm with you but I'm a little disappointed HD produces a marginal stock motorcycle that is engineered to be improved by the aftermarket. As mentioned, The dreaded Harley Tax.
