Default WG Mod

Ok guys. I know I am going to get hounded about this but I am curious.
I have been trying to figure out how to reduce rake on my 12WG for a while now. I would trade but I have too much money in it. I have just found myself liking the BOB look better. I had an idea and wanted to see what opinions are. I noticed that when you lower the front of a WG it is closer to the look I want. I also know that you can put Fat Bob trees on and maintain the wide front. The Fat Bob trees do not have the rake in them that the WG trees do. So my theory is use Fat trees and lower the bike and it would look like a Street Bob with a stock WG front on it.

Heck i would swap you a street bob front end for a wide glide.

Then you would both have bad trail figures. Wide glide front end on a street bob lowers the trail numbers below 4" which will result in a dangerously twitchy front end.

Dragon354, you are either going to have to have your frame cut and rewelded to reduce the rake or buy a fatbob frame. Harley added rake to the trees of the wide glide to correct the trail numbers from raking the frame 34°. Without the raked trees the trail numbers jump from 5.2 to 6.6. Not good. You can buy a fat bob frame for $2k brand new. Not sure what someone would charge to cut and re-weld your frame.

Don't get me wrong. I live my WG. Just wanted something different. I may just wait a year and have two bikes. Heck, my girl sells them in Huntsville, AL.

No problem. I am in the same boat as you. I should've bought a fat bob or street bob. Im either going to ride it out with the WG for one more year and sell it next year or Im going to go to a 23" front rim with 3° trees & fat bob fork tubes. That will give me a different look and achieve a slightly better trail number at 5.08 from 5.2.

I had thought about that. I think for now I am going to lower the front as I have already lowered the rear. Then I will have that bad *** slammed look.
