I was wondering if any of my fellow Dyna riders would agree or disagree with using Mobil 1 15w50 syn. verses the Mobil 1 20w50 syn in the crankcase. The 15w50 is $3.00 + cheaper per quart.
The way I see it, it still has got to be far better than using a dino 20w50.
I don't want to start another one of those long, drawn out oil debates,I just want some opinion on the issue, especially if youalready use the 15w50 and how long have you been using it.
I just thinkthat $9.00+for a quart of oil is ridiculous.
Thanks for any input.
Yeah, I hear ya KB.
But I can't help but think it's just a marketing gimmik to milk a few more dollars out of us "filthy rich" Harley riders, if you get my drift.
" Build it and they will come"
I take very good care of my bike but I don't like to see money wasted.
A good example: oil filters @ thestealership are $ 13.50 apeice but you can get a much better filter @ VIP for around $5.00.
You're missing the point of my original question, although I may have exagerated, but to digress Ithink the chrome Fram filters were about $6 and I think even the K&N filters were cheaper than the stealers.
I am using vegetable oil in mine now.......... I found some for $1.50/ Gallon. Using coffee filters to filter the oil...... I can those for like 75 cents / hundred.
I like saving money, too.
Rip or not, the M1 V-twin is specially blended for V-twins.
I am sure 15w50 won't hurt it.
Nothing wrong with 20w50 dino, either.
Call me foolish, I will keep putting the M1 Vtwin 20w50 in mine.
There really are different additives in the Vtwin oil. The moly they add to the oil makes it much more expensive.

I wouldn't do it. I use Mobile V-Twin in the engine and primary and Mobile synthetic (75/140 summer) (75/90 winter) in the trans.
I'm not gonna risk my engine to save $9. That would be ridiculous.
