I have the 10" MX-Tbars. Am I happy with them? Yes. Should I have gone to 12's? I don't know...I have a long reach and I in fact mocked up the height with PVC (cheaper and easier that wood) and I had it (the PVC) in the garage from sprinkler repairs......but I digress.
With the stock rake and the rise of the bars, the higher you go the closer the bars will be to you, the rider. So depending on your height and arm reach you will need to determine what is best for you. I feel if I went with 12's my arms would be more bent, as I have my arms at about max reach for comfort...and yes they are comfortable for me...and the "response" is about instant with them on, compared to the original mini apes..
Can you go to 12's without changing your cables? Yes.
Hi I'm brand new to the forum. I'm trying to put Tbars on my bike it has the risers built into the triple tree. Bung king makes some nice bars that would work my question is would the stock cables work with 14 in Tbars. The 09 has stock 12 inch mini apes and I'm thinking I will gain a little bringing the cables inward. Any thoughts or knowledge is appreciated Thank you
take this question to the club bike thug bikes thread here in the dyna section..incase the right member with the right awnser doesnt check this out
So I decided on going with the West Coast MX-Tbars. I know I can go up to 12" with my stock cables/wiring but don't know if I want 10" or 12". So my thought is if I am unsure I should buy the 10" and then if I want to go higher down the road I can just add risers. Sound like a good idea?
I went through the same thing. I ended up going with 12". I was actually debating with 14" or 12" mx bars. I sat on many bikes to check my*reach. Im really happy with 12" not to tall nor to small. You can 14" mx tbars with stock cables too. My wait time was actually 3 weeks but was well worth it and they are simple to wire internally.

My sbob has the risers built in the trees too. It sucks I hate the look. If I were you find some used upper trees and change it. However, west coast t bars do make some that will fit the street bob with built-in risers. You can go up to 14" with stock cables. I went with 12" which give you 13" at grips. Once I installed I noticed they were even taller because of built-in risers. Overall im happy with them.
Can the regular west coast mx-tbars be installed on a Street Bob or do I have to get the Sbob ones? I forget who, but I recall one forum member saying they got the sbob ones but wish they had got the regular t-bars instead.
It just really depends on your upper tree clamps. If you have the ones with built-in risers then you'll need the sbob which were stock between those years. However some people change them. So if you picked up your bike from someone and they had swapped that out. Then you'll need the other ones that are not sbob.
My 12" West coast SBOB TBars were waiting for me when I got home from work.
Craftsmanship is incredible, glad I went with the 12" instead of 10 (just from holding them infront of my current bars and seeing roughly where they will sit.

Just curious. How long did it take for you to get them? I ordered mine last week & have no idea when they will show up? I sent them a email & haven't received a response. I know they make a good product but there customer service and communication to their customers is the worst.
