There are several in the area for the price you are looking for.
Hartford Craigslist
My FXR.

My Dyna

The Dyna has a 6speed, which makes the highway speeds more bearable, and better brakes, which is ALWAYS better. It's bigger than the FXR, heavier, and more room for 2up.
The FXR is great on long rides as well, and certainly much more fun. On this coast they can be had for much cheaper than a newer Dyna. And is still my go to bike. I had major issues with my first Twinkie, and I'm still gun shy with this one. But that is me.
Should help you expand your search significantly.

while i always recommend a fatbob it'll be a little out of your pricerange. but shouldnt be too hard to find an early 2000's superglide or lowrider for that money.
for the most part the only year you need to watch out for is 2006. always seems to be someone complaining about them.
What is wrong with the 06? I heard the 05 had a weak crank?
Are the issues on the 06 easily fixable? Although, If I'm going to spend $8k on a bike, I'd like to avoid making major fixes to what the factory screwed up.
