Yes Ken Oaff, FUN bike indeed. Just wish it had another gear! The newer EVO Sportster just don't do it for me looks wise.
love the color on the tins!

I may just have to bite the bullet on a new Low Rider WOW. Harley did a fantastic job with this one. As I stated, the old FXS is my favorite bike and this re-do is extremely nice http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US....html#!gallery

Or just dream since $14k is a wee bit out of my price range LOL

My First HD was an Ironhead as well. I've had 4 Sporties total. If you like the sporty, look into an FXR. Lighter than a Dyna, about the same weight as a sporty, big twin, light and nimble.

There are several in the area for the price you are looking for.

Hartford Craigslist

My FXR.

My Dyna

The Dyna has a 6speed, which makes the highway speeds more bearable, and better brakes, which is ALWAYS better. It's bigger than the FXR, heavier, and more room for 2up.

The FXR is great on long rides as well, and certainly much more fun. On this coast they can be had for much cheaper than a newer Dyna. And is still my go to bike. I had major issues with my first Twinkie, and I'm still gun shy with this one. But that is me.

Should help you expand your search significantly.

Happy hunting

That's the first time Ive seen the new Lowrider. I kinda like it. It has almost an 80s feel to it and looks surprisingly similar to that FXR. Pretty cool.

Im digging that silver Iron too. The fender reminds me of a Softail Standard. Nice job on that one.

theres no problem putting mids on a wideglide. newer models can use the forward mids. not a fan of the rake on the wideglide and the pizza cutter.

while i always recommend a fatbob it'll be a little out of your pricerange. but shouldnt be too hard to find an early 2000's superglide or lowrider for that money.

for the most part the only year you need to watch out for is 2006. always seems to be someone complaining about them.

Funny, I was just going to post a link to a bike I was interested in: 06 FXDBI http://newhaven.craigslist.org/mcy/4367513807.html

What is wrong with the 06? I heard the 05 had a weak crank?

Are the issues on the 06 easily fixable? Although, If I'm going to spend $8k on a bike, I'd like to avoid making major fixes to what the factory screwed up.
