Default First time on a twin cam

Man, what a crossroads I'm at. I'm thinking about getting a new 13 Fatboy Lo. Local dealer as one for 14,700. Smoother motor and a 6 spd. would be nice out on the open road. It's just so hard to give up my Evo. To me, that thing just has soul. My wife's 96" street bob has real nice power delivery and that 6 speed IS nice. Even though I know my Evo. is only a 5 speed, I'm always looking for another gear. What a problem to have, huh? lol

My wife's trying to talk me INTO the new one. It's me that's not wanting to spend the dough. If I did this, it would be my first "new" bike. I've always bought used to get the most bang for the buck. With the dealer marking it down 4k, it's almost like them eating the depreciation right off the top. Whatcha think?

Default do not stop-go

You need to spend your money. Do you have to sell your evo? I'd get the Fatboy Lo and it's what I have. It's so much smoother and doesn't wear you out as quick on long rides. The drop in rpm is great, though they are geared too high, you'll seldom be looking for another gear. I don't kick it into 6th till after 65. Great price on a new bike also.

P.S. it does have the worst seat I've ever set on though. Called and ordered a new one before I got home.

Watch the out the door price though. HD dealers are notorius for giving you a great price and then adding on "fees" to make up profit. I got my Lo last March and paid $17,000 OTD including tax and everything else. This time of year you should do better.

Thanks for the input. I don't "have" to sell the evo. but will eventually, I'm sure.

I always watch for their "fees", they can get ya hard there.

Well there you go. If you can keep the evo for a while maybe you'll love the twin cam so much it won't hurt so much. You can always decide to keep it anyway.

Well, I went after work and did the deal. I'll pick it up tomorrow at lunch. Now comes the whole new platform to learn. I guess the first search will be pipes. The stock pipes look good but are too quiet. Maybe I'll try to gut them before I buy new ones.

I must say, this 13 bike is way way better on the hwy. Going through the gears and the next thing ya know, 80, and the 6th gear is some nice! Of course, I have no feel for this bike yet but in time I will. My 94, I know how fast by sound and feel alone.

Default pipe up

I just bought a Crossbones to go with my Fatboy Lo. Couldn't pass it up for the price. It had the stock pipes gutted. The sound sucked but I'm a 2 into 1 man. Isn't the ride great though. Can't believe how smooth they run till up to about 80. Over that they get some vibes but I don't ride there much cuz the breeze is getting a bit intense. Did that seat work for you? Mine had my tailbone raw after 300 miles. My first mod was to take off the heel shifter but the seat was a close second. Enjoy

With about 5 miles from the dealer back to work, I've not been able to evaluate the seat yet. The heep shifter will stay. I use the hell outta them. It will be adjusted to my liking though.
