If you change pipes only, do you need to plug it in and remap?

No not for pipes only.

It would be a no-brainier for me which is exactly what I did, kept my 95 FLHT and bought a 2013 Slim, and when I die I will still have the 95 FLHT, I refuse to get rid of it, now all I need is a Shovel again, because we all know nothing sounds like a Shovel head with a set of points.
