I cut one coil out of my springs, roughly an inch or so to see if I liked the stance at that height before buying anything. I love it, looks great for what I'm going for. But I want some black springs and some that aren't cut. I did cut them at an angle so they sit flat and it does ride fine but I want do it the right way and this was a height test. I'm looking at black 11" Progressives, would this be similar in height to where I'm at now with the cut springs? I don't really want to go any lower than now due to cornering issues and scrapping. Thanks!
Or.....should I just paint the tops and bottom of mine black?
Measure eye to eye on what you have now. That'll let you know where you're at for a better comparison.
If you're completely happy with the height and ride quality then I don't see a reason to spend $200-$300 on new shocks. Just disassemble them and powder coat them black....
He's talking about eye to eye of the shock's mounts as it sits without your weight on the bike. Or center to center of the upper and lower shock bolts.
Its not critical but the best way is to measure with the bike straight up, not leaning on the kick stand. So an extra set of hands is useful if you don't have a front wheel stand or chock. Or you could measure both sides while on the jiffy stand and split the difference if there is any. Just depends on how **** you want to be about it. lol
