Howdy Fellas! Time is wrapping up for my deployment, so I figured I would order my upgrade parts so they would be waiting for me when I get home! Just ordered quite a bit now I'm just excited to get home and start wrenching! Is there anything that wouldn't be able to be installed myself...I am mechanically inclined, however, never dealt with motorcycles. Edit' Also...are there any specific tools that I will need? I have a large collection of tools, but honestly my tinkering was only on my Super Duty...therefore most of the tools I have are, uh, bigger...will I need a Nm TQ wrench? Also keyed torx bits, what kinds will be necessary?
16" R6C w/ Wiring
Burly Slammer Kit
Side mount vert plate (R6C)
Rinehart all black CrossBacks
Fuel moto micro tuner
RSD turbine A/C
DK Tank lift
HD quick detach kit
HD detach sissy bar
and some cosmetic upgraded stuff...
As far as the apes go, I ordered the wiring harness stuff...but I was just wondering, will I have to re-locate my turn signals up front? I would honestly rather keep them at stock.
Well thats my list I am pretty excited to get to wrenching...now I just have to convince the 'boss' to let me get home and go straight to the garage haha!
Out of your list, the only real challenge is the bar swap. It's not too bad, but you need to take your time, keep track of the small parts in the control housings, and learn how to disassemble the connectors (YouTube is your friend.)
You will need a torque wrench, but a in/LB / ft/LB version.
Thanks guys! Torx bits, and an in/lb torque wrench...sounds good! I was reading in other threads about the Youtube approach. I have been lurking on the forums since I got my bike...just making sure I am looking o.k. at the prep. Appreciate it guys.
Phil,
You don't need to go out of your way for the torque wrench. And standard Lowes model works. You'll mainly need the ft/lbs rating for the bars. The in/LB option is needed for smaller fasteners like the intake, and several other places on your bike. The Lowes model I have will do both and cost around $35 roughly.
Do a YouTube search for Molex connectors and you'll see how easy it is.
SLV Thanks again! ft.lb. I got for sure...going from 1-200 haha! I am a "Tool connoisseur" if you will...and tend to look for excuses to purchase more tools hehe...I am a crapsman (Craftsman) guy too...not the greatest, but they work for me! Yeah I will youtube those wire connectors. I don't think I will have too much trouble with wiring though.

This winter I installed apes, pipes, and re-jetted my carb on my Low Rider. First bike, and first time working on one in any way shape or form. That said, I took my time, and when I came to a spot that I was unsure of something, I researched the factory manual, or on here and asked questions. If you're familiar wrenching on cars, or anything else, basic mods like these are pretty easy, just my two cents though.
