That was another option I knew of but forgot to mention. I have seen some YouTube videos using a mototcycle specific frame rack. Really neat! They are well, just about 1/4 size of the automotive racks. Imagine that!
If my compound bend is admittedly beyond my automotive dealership skills, I need to find a bike shop with a rack. Louisville is a decent size town but Indy & Nashville are just north and south of me with Cincy just to the east and all within 1.5 to 3.5 trailer hrs away. Even at $1,000, I'm still sorta ahead.
I am with SLV, go with the rolling thunder frame (FXR). RTF's offers one for long primary. The chopper guys frame is bad ***, but good luck finding one. Mondo from Denver choppers done one and so did superco. But like I said good luck finding a CG frame. Go with the RTF and you can order the rake and many other opinions you want. But don't listen to me, I am a FXR trapped in FXDX frame.
So what did you end up doing? I need to get the frame repaired or replaced on my superglide down here in BG. Not sure which route I'm gonna take.
I've got a spare street bob frame I bought off ebay a couple years ago, but I was never given a bill of sale or anything with it, so I'm not even sure if it's a clean titled frame. I'll probably just swap everything over to it until I get my frame fixed or replaced.
We are in luck. I found an amazing specialty shop in Knoxville TN www.framestraight.com800-846-1306 Trailered my bike stripped to just a rolling engine and frame down 3 weeks ago. He looked at it and didn't even wince at the damage. Piece of cake sorta thing. He said about 6 weeks so I'm going to start 'checking in' with him at about 4 1/2 weeks.
Walkaround estimate was $800-$1,000 range. However when we started looking at a slight twist at the neck he said lets figure in the $1,000-$1,200 range now. Even at that price I'm still at half of replacement.
Also, in hopes of possibly saving some money I mentioned that every thing doesn't have to be absolutely dead perfect as this is just a salvage cruiser and not a race bike. His direct, straightface respose was "No, we don't do close. Everything goes to dead zero." Wow!
