How hard would it be to just cut the yoke and add a piece in the middle?

Got a pic?

Got a set of used Leatherworks throwovers for my Dyna Lowrider and just installed supports for them. Do not like the way it looks. The yoke is also one piece but the supports are to wide, spaces the bags to far away and with the one piece yoke they just don't fit right. I am going to see about modifying the supports to reduce the spread distance and see if they will fit better.

I got some inexpensive medium sized leather slanted throw-over bags and I also didn't like the way they hung way out with the supports...so I took off the supports. I tied them to the shock springs to keep them from flying up in the wind and they are not rubbing against anything moving. I like the look much better.
