Are you running a upper belt guard? If not, take a pic of the rear shocks and lower shock mounting bolts.....you may have either lowering blocks installed or shorter shocks that are allowing fender to contact the belt under compression......Most of us will be able to tell by looking at a pic....
Yeah, there is an upper belt guard on there. As far as i can tell everything is stock on the bike. They are going to come & get it Monday morning to take it back to the dealership and take a look at it. I looked at it again just now and noticed when i moved it forward, the belt had about 6" of it covered in some type of fluid. Im beginning to think she might have major issues.
Something really wrong there. Never have seen wear like that before. Please post what they find out. I had over 100k miles on my belt & replaced just for the heck of it, probably could have gone another 50k on it.
Well the dealer found nothing wrong with alignment, nothing inside or outside of the case that would cause dragging on the belt. They did honor the warranty, which is half the part cost & half the labor cost. So all in all, a brand new belt, gaskets, & labor for $300. I guess it couldve been worse. They did tell me that they took it in on trade 2 days before i bought it & only changed the plugs, wires & a new front tire, therefore its possible that it could of been like that from the previous owner. I definitely will keep an eye on it. Thanks for all the replies, i really appreciate it!

Well I'm glad that you got a new belt on there but I still think it's bullshit that they didn't catch that on their inspection before they turned the bike over. I just did some work on my buddies bike which was at the dealership less then 5k ago for a service and I found a broken saddlebag support, missing detach sissy bar hardware and a rattling timing cover. It sucks that these guys miss this stuff they're suppose to be the best and clearly not all of them are. $300 for a belt change is a pretty good deal but if I were you I'd find another dealer to do your work if you don't do it yourself

You are WAY too kind. Honor the warranty? They did not dispute the bike was delivered that way. It was an oversight on their part. If it was me I would go back To the business OWNER and tell him how fortunate they are that you noticed the worn belt before it failed and you got injured. Their negligence would have cost them $$millions$$. Once again a good reason to pay with a credit card. If they baulk at giving you a refund call the card company and file a "Dispute of Charges".
In any case this should have been caught and changed prior to delivery.
