OK, please do not sell me 2into1 thunder header, Rinehart, Bassani, DD etc. I will never give up the look of a 2into2. However, I do want a little more torque. I was looking at Big shot stagger lately, it has a crossover chamber. Does it do anything? Do I expect more torque compare to my Short shot? I have heard big shot on youtube, love the sound. Tell me what you think! Again, I want to compare Short shot to Big shot. Thanks
Alex the big shots are a great pipe will get better performance than those short shots for sure. on my stage 2 set up back to back comparison the bassani b1 made 3 more tq than the bigshots but the bigshots produced more hp and they sounded a lot more like a Harley so I sold the bassani b1 pipe. sounded to automotive to me and others as well. and the big shots look & sound good on a dyna!
Thanks Todd! I should have asked you before posting.
Wait a minute, I always thought you have thunder header, am I correct? It must be your buddy Scott then lol.
no had a brand new bassani b1 exhaust that cost just over $700 on the bike for about one month and then got a deal on a set of big shots off craigslist for $225 sold bassani for 450on ebay
I was in the same boat as you. I decided to try a cheap trick on my short shots before giving them up. I installed a thumb screw into the baffle mounting hole, along with the stock baffles. Sounds good and definitely has more torque according to the "butt dyno". I had to switch maps on my FP3, but it is running really nice now. I am going to keep this set up for now, rather than buy new pipes. Total cost was about $2.50 at Lowes
Never had Short Shots but I have heard they are not a great performance pipe. I do have the BSS and they sound great and perform really well. They would be my choice for a 2into 2.
Dammit ... Your SS's sound great now with adding the factory baffle mod. I did the same thing with mine with the BCT baffles. Sounds great.
As for performance I am not looking for a drag bike. I feel the 103 with the PV2 gets me plenty. But I know with your set up and all you want all the power you can get.
But with that said I still think the SS's look great on your bike. Reason I switched to them.
My builder told me that he was surprised at the performance of the bss on my bike when he dyno'd it. He built my bike with the FM 107 and Woods 555 cams. The week before he had done the same upgrade on another 09 dyna with SS and said that my bss were a good bit better performing than the other bike with everything being the same except exhaust. I like the looks of the SS better, but if you spend the money for the upgrade, then why not have an exhaust that helps rather thank hinders the performance. Rod's Performance did my build and got 105 hp and 115 tq. My clutch was slipping slightly at the time and Rod will correct that next week.
I have the Big Shot Staggered on mine and love them. They sound great and run strong for a 2 into 2 pipe. Well a 2 into 1 into 2 with the crossover. My buddy has the Short Shots on his bike and l love the look but his bike does not perform as well as mine. If I were in the market for a 2 into 2 pipe I would go with the Big Shot Staggered again. Good luck with whatever you end up with.
