It was the first week in December when I stopped in at my local Harley dealer. Since it was the middle of the week and the snow was flying nobody was in the place. I got to spend some quality time with John who had been selling Harley's for 20 years. I told im I was looking to trade in my Sporty for another Harley, but wanted to upgrade. After looking at some bikes, I came across a Fat Bob. I liked the dual front discs, the dual headlights, and the drag bars. And it fit like a glove. The only problem was I couldn't test ride the bike because of the weather. I did my research on the bike and decided it was for me. I picked it up a month ago and the weather is still "iffy". So I haven't had a chance to really ride it yet.
I'm now questioning if I made too much of a leap going from a Sporty to a Dyna...Maybe I should have taken a "48" instead. I have over 20 years of riding experience, but compared to my Sportster..this is one "Big Boy".

Any input from the Forum is appreciated.
I thought you were sane until you started talking all that crazy talk!
The FatBoy isn't big, your sporty was petite. Sportsters are fun but like SLV said, you'll get use to the FB lickity-split!
You're off the porch and running with the BigDog's/FatBoy's now
I'm sure that after you ride it a few times you'll get use to everything and riding a bigger, heavier machine will be second nature.
Don't sweat it, you made the right choice.
Sidestepping from one sportster to another would be a waste. I did the sportster to fat bob conversion and it took no time to get used to the swap in no time
When I first started riding, I went from an xl883 to a softail fat boy. Took about 20 miles to get used to the weight (off the stand) and throttle control with the larger engine.
The 2012 dyna fatbob (which I now have) is a damn fine machine and the best harley I've ridden ( sportster, softail, touring). The transition will be effortless. happy riding and welcome to the fat side of life!
You will be happy with the Fat Bob...it's sporty and handles great!!!! And it won't take but a few more miles and you will smile all the way down the road!!! Love my Fat Bob!!!!
