For the tightest wrap, you'll have to pull the pipes off. Not sure if you can even do it with the pipes on. It would be tough.

Chipster, black is cool - but black on black on black is too much. You need to use a white wall or red pin stripe on rim or it just turns into a large black hole. Many jap bikes do all black on purpose on wheels so you will look at the fancy body and motor and don't look at the cheap production wheels...Now a bike that matched your hot rod - BAD O....

If you really want the bike to stand out - try red annodised spokes and chrome nipples on black hub and rim. On a bike with alot of black - it's the shizzle...(only seen this twice)...
Oh yeah - I like soaking roll too - molds better and keeps dust down....

Ditto here on the poor ceramic coating on Thunderheaders.

How does the paint that gets sprayed on the tap look compared to the ceramic color of the TH?

Wrapped pipes will radiate less heat and supposedly keep the heat in the pipe better which translates into more performance through better scavanging.

I do not know if I am 100% sold on all of that, but it will result in the outside of the pipes putting less heat out making red lights and traffic in hot weather more comfortable.

...the ceramic blackfinish from Thunderheader sucks
I will agree with you there, but its just a motorcycle, so I hit it with a sharpie. The coating may suck, but it doesn't change the fact that its still the best sounding exhaust for the v-twin harley.

I found this while searching around on the net. They say that wrapping the pipes will eventually cause premature failure due to lack of heat dissipation.

Just something to ponder.

Ray.
