There's some things that make me feel naked, and one is not wearing a full face helmet. I wore a half helmet sometimes when I rode my UC and I (just me now, my opinion about myself, not anyone else) just felt stupid. One thing I love about a full face besides the health value of it is the anonymity. Hell, I probably like my privacy more than my health even.
Yeah, it did hurt. I underwent facial reconstructive surgery and took almost a full year for my swolled post-op face to go back to normal...I don't wish that kind of stuff on anyone.

So yeah...it's now full face all the time for me! It's curious that you mention de anonimity factor. There's so few Harleys here [and even fewer daily riders] that it doesn't matter what you wear, people who know you and your bike will never think you're someone else.

Go somewhere that you can try several helmets on and find one that fits. I agree with the others though that you should get rid of the non DOT helmets. You can buy ear plugs for the wind noise if that is all you are worried about.

It's funny how in some sub-cultures, being cool is synonymous with stupidity.

Never seen a driver in a pro race wearing a novelty helmet. Or no helmet.

Let those who ride decide...

Here in the Free State of Texas, sometimes I wear a helmet, sometimes I don't...if it is my fate to go down then it is what it is...

No offense to those who want to wear full face and body armor, but if I was that scared of getting hurt or dead, then I probably wouldn't ride at all...

just say'n...

That's a pretty wild assumption on your part. Intelligent choices don't need to be fear-based.

For example, some of us have people who rely on us, or who care about us. It's OK to care about other people, as opposed to just being selfish.

Let's not derail this into another ''helmet vs. no helmet'' argument please

The guy comes from a touring bike and now that he has a dyna he's facing a new enemy: wind resistance. I believe a windshield and/or a full face helmet will help with the issue.

Here in AL we have a helmet law so I have no choice but when I hit the Florida line I enjoy riding without it. I am going to a few bike shops over the weekend to try on different helmets. Thanks for the info!

I just got a flat black Shoei RF1200, like it looks great imo, is expensive but half was a gift.
I was also looking at the Bell Bullitt, Classic look with modern protection.

Back when i was a "tough guy" on my 883, ( I dunno.. 1992 or so ) I tried the novelty helmet thing. Hated it. "wind in your face" was waaaay overrated in my opinion. Sand and rain and debris hitting me in the face at 70mph just sucked. I prefer the quiet and calm under my full face. I can concentrate and enjoy the ride more.
I never believed for a second that helmet laws had anything to do with concern for the rider anyway, it was all about liability and insurance and concern for the driver of the car that hit you. When the rider turns his "freedom of expression" into a lawsuit because he suffered unnessary injuries because he wasn't wearing a helmet. IMHO, of course.

Anyway, Shoei RF series helmets have always been great. Combine that with a Quiet Rider helmet insert and a Sena bluetooth device to your phone and don't look back.
