You're doing great job talking down to people who don't share your views, I believe it should be a choice and a post in a forum is not going to change anyone's mind.

Now that I am back on a dyna the helmet feels like it's a sail in the wind at highway speeds. It feels like it's trying to pull off my head and pulls my head and neck back. This is very uncomfortable. I am leaving for the beach next week and trying to figure out if there is a fix for this? Just curious if anyone else has had this issue? Thanks

Kinda surprised with the popularity of novelty helmets, other novelty safety related items have not seen the same kind of popularity. Novelty fire extinguishers, novelty bullet proof vests, etc..

For about 125 bucks, you can get a pretty nice HJC brand, Snell and DOT approved full face helmet. My wife prefers her mega-buck Shoei, but that's partly because it came with a fancier girly paint job.... doilies and flowers and little pink hearts or something like that. Maybe there are some bunnies on there too.

Both cut through the wind about equally well (neither of us use windshields), and better than any 3/4 or novelty helmets I have tried.

Born and raised in the Appalachian foothills of Alabama. Never understood why the people in a state with such a fierce independent stubborn streak would continue to kow-tow to such politically motivated bullshit...and why the riders there don't come together and do something about it like they did here in Texas...

I am not anti-helmet and I do wear one about half of the time and I even own a full face. Find one you like that fits like you want and wear it and may the Force be with you.

The same can be said about Georgia. The most anti-Fed minded state. I always found it strange that people here allowed a helmet law.

It's interesting to watch people pull over at the Georgia line (SC and Florida) to put on or remove their helmet.

I'm for freedom of choice, but I choose to always wear my helmet. It should be the rider's choice though. With my chrome dome and already poor hearing, I just prefer to have the helmet. Also, I'd hate myself if I went down, sustained a head injury and had a perfectly good helmet strapped to my bike.

Last time I went down, the helmet (with my head inside) hit the pavement pretty hard. Insurance company bought me a new helmet.

New heads are harder to find.

No helmet law in Maine, I start every year with good intentions to wear a helmet but I seem to taper off as the weather gets warmer. I know all the reasons to wear one, and understand the risk of going without. Still I like the feel of going without, I do find that I ride more conservatively when I'm lid-less.
I went riding with someone a while back, he lectured me that I should wear a helmet so I put mine on, when we got out on the road he was going well over the speed limit, riding to close to cars (and even tailgating big trucks)...so who's safer?

Here in PA the mandatory helmet law has been abolished for about 10 years now. And there a lot of bikers that don't wear helmets It's my opinion that it's the individual rider's decision. Around town I wear my Half-Helmet so I can hear traffic and have more visibility. But on long trips and highway riding I always wear a full-face helmet. The one I have now is an AFX FX-100 FLAT BLACK MOTORCYCLE HELMET. It has a Dual shield system. The SUN SHIELD SYSTEM is a simple one touch system which allows riders to lower a built-in, smoke-tinted face shield underneath the full face clear shield.

If interested my other full face HJC helmet is still for sale on this site.

I have kinda mixed feeling on helmet laws. A 3/4 helmet saved my life over 40 years ago during a head-on dirt bike collision. I've always lived in helmet law states so have little experience riding topless. I own and use two full face, two 3/4, and one 1/2 helmet depending upon my planned ride. I also understand how helmet laws should help reduce emergency department costs. However, this is a lame excuse since 4 police cars, 3 fire trucks, and 2 ambulances will show up at your doorstep within 10 minutes if you make a 911 health related call. Being a libertarian, I think the US has so many laws restricting our lives that it's becoming a farce to say "land of the free." We really need more Darwinism to weed out our society.
