Seems cheap enough and pick up a bulb locally to try. Have a slow wait from china though but seems like a better option than shelling out 130$ on an led bulb. BigRedSB did you prefer the whiter light? Would be one advatage I see.

I thought about the daymaker light, but $100 seemed more reasonable to me. I've just heard a lot of negatives to the cheap bulbs not lasting long at all. When I did the led running lights, my headlight looked very yellow. The white color is much more noticeable during the day, which is what I was going for.

Has anyone had any trouble with melting anything with the brighter higher output bulbs? I was looking at this same thing in a catalog (J & P I think?) and it said that you need a metal housing/reflector only on the 100 watt low beam bulb. This is the low beam not the high beam.

I did a bit of research (well....briefly looking at web pages) and it looks to me like you can get a HID kit for $30 or less on eBay, which would run 35W instead of the stock 55W (this was for the smaller FatBob dual headlights), the ballast would fit in the headlight shell and there is no longer any need to run a hot wire to the battery. What's more, there are options available for CANBUS or old skool bikes.

To me, this seems to be a good way to go (for now) as the LED options are so damn expensive and throw a much tighter beam pattern, to the point that some people complain about the directionality and lack of side illumination.

Mt $0.02 only. I don't even yet have a bike to fit one of these to, so take with a pinch of salt.

my daymaker was the best money I've ever spent on any bike I've ever owned. a Little pricey, but DAMN, does it work. I've yet to use my bright for anything other than a flash as a warning for deer or cops, or to nudge someone out of the fast lane.

Not sure how much your wanting to spend but i put a daymaker in my wide glide. Looks badass and is bright as hell. I work at a paper mill and is down dark *** roads with a lot of deer made me a lot more comfortable. Huge difference

Or go with the Daymaker upgrade. Pricey but worth it IMO.

I went with an hid from eBay and a euro reflector all in a 7" chrome bucket from a fat boy. I'm in it for 50 bucks total and it's insanely bright. Lights up the reflective street signs during the day. The headlight reflector is for a jeep wrangler.

All the parts minus the hid kit I got used for cheap so ymmv on the price.
