Looking around for a new exhaust. Wanting a quality 2 into 1, chrome. Keep running across companies making pipes for post 06 only. Biggest example is V&H. But others have a wide selection for post '06 and just a few for '05 and older.
Apparently I'm riding a dinosaur.
I had an 06, sold it and replaced it with a carbed 5 speed Dyna. Your not missing out on anything.
Because CONSUMERISM, that's why. The MoCo (and every other vehicle company) benefits most from selling new models every year by taking in trade-ins from buyers, keeping them on a leash with monthly payments for as long as possible.
Yea I basically told them ef that noise. I love my 01 and ain't trading up since I spent 8 g on it anyways. I'll still have a lot bettr bike then the new ones anyways
i have an 01 carbed "dinosaur" i love it, so i have to "make it work" with alot of aftermarket parts but meh i got lots of time in the winter to do just that. and where i can wrench it all myself the $100/hour i save goes into upgrades. besides i can still spank the hell out of the 06+ bikes with all the bolt on dealer parts with my little 88".
Loved my carbed '05 Sportster, and looking forward to the carbed '00 FXDL that's about to replace it. First thing I grabbed off the wrecked Sporty was the carb!
I ran V&H 2 into 1 pro pipe HS, a great Tq. producer but would fade around 5,000 rpm. Less noise with it though. I liked it when it was a 88, but feel short at 113.
Went to the Bassani B1 series pipe big difference in over all power.
Mine is a 05 FI bike.

This is good info for me! I built a stout 110 (+.030) over the winter. That's part of the reason I was looking for bigger primary tubes
Thanks for the tip. I wish I lived in California but sadly Michigan I do. I don't want to do crate motor anymore I'm just going to bore it out. I'm just hoping to get around 138 hp, well see though.
Also I'm planning on doing a bassini road rage as well don't know the number though
Where in Michigan are you?
I went the same route... rather than buying a crate motor I built a new one with my cases. For some reason I kinda wanted to keep my vin'd cases with the 100th anniversary tag that's embedded in them. Everything else is new though... crank, cams, oil pump, cylinders, heads, valve train, carb, etc

I'm in the Rochester hills area. Sounds sweet. Luckly my engine is no special one so I'm going to rip it a new one
