The 200mm thing has been discused alot before with varrying opinions. Some have put it on with no problems, but you do need a wider rim. Check out Hog Pro, they sellrims and have pics of 06 dynas with 200 mm tires with no major changes needed.
little bit of sidetracking here. I have gone thru 2 dunlops 160 series.Next time around I put metz on rear along with a new front tire.I like the way metzler handles .The milage is about the same on the rear 6k its to the wearbars. So I call the indy here to see about goin a 170 metzler to make up the difference from the stock 160 metz. The metzler is a little more narrow.Well he had told me the new 170 which is a radial tire Id get bout half the milage out of grrrr. And the 160 metz bias is now going for bout 50 bux more then it did a year ago. So I guess I will be going back to the dunlop on rear for 121 dollors. He did mention avon but I see thats in a radial also on website. But at 6kmiles on a bias dunlop theres no way I am gona give 175 bux for same milage outta the metz bias. And Id like the wider tire but not at half of 6k miles.Just to mention this for ones that are in point of neeeding rubber
I dont think they used a thinner belt, but i may be wrong, its been awhile since i talked to the guy at Hog Pro. From what i remember all he does is change rim abd put on a 200mm metzlerand relocate turn signals. Ive also heard from members on here that the metzlers arew narrower, not sure though. Check the site out, they are sponsors here.
I guess the real question is here... what the hell is in the HD wide tire kit....Does anyone know???? Is there pictures or a breakdown to be had somewhere just to see what they are giving you???? I'd like to get a 180 or even a 200 once I wear out my stock rubber but my bike still hasn't hit the streets yet... We get one freak day here in the Falls and everybody yells at me to go get it....Well I do have one bike on the road....I'm in no hurry....lol Ok lets see whatt's in this HD WIDE TIRE KIT.........PLEASE !!!!!!
Wide tire kit _ 2 bolts for the turn signals that have rounded allen heads
2 replacements for the metal struts INSIDE the fender that are made to hold wire flatter to fender.
Relocating turn signals will give more room and eliminate the need for new int. struts - 2 allen bolts will set you back $1...
The SE 180mm tire has a narrow bead and is made for Dyna rear rim.
If you are heavy handed - you will not like that tire - at the end I could watch it go down - very slippery also...
