who did you buy the bike from? Private party or dealer?
Sitting for a year could mean the previous owner had the problem too and did some bandaid repair to get it sold.

A few years ago I was waved over by 4 bikers in a parking lot. They had rented these harleys and one had the same problem you describe. They couldn't speak English very well, but I called their rental company, I think it was Eagle or something like that. I told them what the problem was and the guys "Don't tell me it's those f***** germans, that's the second bike they've wrecked. I just left, don't know whatever happened. Guess they made it home somehow. They weren't very nice, never even thanked me for the call. This was before everyone had a cell phone.

It was consigned to a non harley dealer. He got a good deal on it, I am hoping it's just something minor and some minor bad luck. Of course there is no warranty or anything along those lines.

i would think if it ran good with no problems then it wouldnt move, it should be something simple that doesnt warrant taking it to the dealer to be fixed

He was given a service manual with the bike so I am going to take a look at that also when I go look at the bike.
