I swapped out my rear turn signals and all went well and easy. However after installing them I noticed that the indicator flashes very rapidly but the turn signal works propperly. Any suggestions? They are LED. Now for the front the clamps are one piece. So should I pull the triple tree or should I drop the forks down through the triple tree? Thanks for any suggestions. I'm still learning. Here is a pic of the new signals installed.
Hey man those lights look nice. Led's draw a lot less power than incandescent bulbs therefore after installing them your bike is fooled into believing you have a burned out bulb, because of the such low draw of power needed for the led. What you need is a dual load equalizer wired inline with the turn signals. You will need one for the rear signals and one for the front too, I believe. I am no expert but that should fix your fast flash. There is a ton of info online, just google it. As for installing the fronts if they are in fact one piece and have to be slid over the fork tube I would definitely slide the forks out of the triple trees after loosening the pinch clamps rather than removing the upper triple tree. I did mine with CD's couple of weeks ago, they sent this little device with what they call, I think, "Posi-Lock" connector, no way near as big as those load equalizers.
Not much more than the size of a diode shrink wrapped, about 6" long. Seems easy enough to install, I just haven't bothered to figure out which wires you tap them into.
So the all the blinkers still flash at the original pace but the idiot light flashes quickly.
I am told other than that side effect no harm comes from it.
I don't see this little device shown on their website, might come with the set I had.
Custom Dynamic TrueFlex Duel Converter is what the guys are talking about above. $6 each and you would need 4-1 for each light. It has two wires going into the diode and one coming out. You bikes ground goes to the lights ground, the bikes running wire (blue) goes to the orange wire (runs at 30% power) and the bikes brake or turn or brake/turn (purple/purple w/ white stripe or brown/brown w/ white stripe) goes to the red wire (runs at 100% when activated) and the single red wire goes to the light power input. If anyone needs a diagram for wiring let me know and I will help you out, I have used these many times and currently do.
Please note, that I have not wired these into the new canbus systems so contacting CD would be a better way to figure out wiring up the new system.
I also have the fast flashing indicator in the dash, doesn't really bother me.
Alot of people have been successful in fixing this by leaving the hazardlights on for a few minutes ( the bike should learn the new resistance of the turnsignal this way). It didn't work on my bike, not sure why it works on some, but not on others. Give it a try, it just might work on yours.....
Regarding the front, just drop the fork, 2 minute job. The hard part for me was locationg the new turnsignalwires for the front. I think that one took me two hours... Hehe...
