Did my first tour on "the" WAB back in '80, good times! I think when I was there on my first tour we had about 13 divisional sized units in Germany, now I hear we have two brigades.
Baader-Meinhof members were still running around, I remember watching the MP's and Polizei chasing a SMLM vehicle down the autobahn during Reforger of '81. That Russian was hell bent on not getting caught!
Hell, when I was there the V-Corp commander (GEN Krosen) was shot at with an RPG, I think in Heidelberg. Good times!
Ah the good old days, I get teary eyed just thinking of fighting commies
Suede,
I'm in Wiesbaden for another 50 days. I take it you were stationed in Germany?
Air Force or Army? I did 3 tours in Germany from '91 to '95 & '04 to '07. Twice in Stuttgart, once in Karlsruhe, so I was mostly down south.
Nice ride, man. Hope you took advantage of the riding over there. I spent a couple years, bombing around southern Germany & the Alsace-Lorraine region of France on the '94 Sportster I'd bought through AAFES. Picked it up from the dealer in Mannheim.

Suede,
Yeah, it's getting pretty thin over here. V Corps is gone now, 2SCR is the only big bub left in country. I'm jealous of you guys stationed over here during the Cold War. That always sounds awesome.

Lane splitting? Not.
Upflying,
They're big. I've seen smaller ones but I didn't care enough to hunt them down. I'll figure out a different way to mount it once I'm stateside again. With how aggressive the Germans are on the road sometimes lane splitting is scary regardless of plate size.

Carl,
I'm a Soldier.
I've played with some of your buddies down in Stuttgart a few times over here and in Iraq.
I wasn't around Wiesbaden for most of my tour but for the time that I was here I got out as much as I can. Rode through a lot of my area here in Germany and went on a few trips to the Netherlands and France. Fun times but I can't wait to get back home. Thanks for the comments on the bike!
Hmmm... while backing my bike into my spot last night I gave the handlebars a tug and they moved backwards on me! I don't know why I thought the knurls would hold it in place.
Today I am heading to the shop to remove the top clamp, wrap some coke can around the knurls where they contact the clamp and risers, apply some red Loctite on the clamp/bars/bolts and then re-torque it.
I don't think this is that big of a deal and I'm still happy with the set-up but I would really appreciate some solid bars that don't move when I yank on them.
