Okay, here is the stock bike, with the Fat Bob fairing from Dougz quickly installed just to see what it would look like. It doesn't look half bad, even though it hasn't even been painted yet.

Now here it is a week later with the first round of mods applied. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but it is a significant improvement over stock.

Lots of parts that still need to be installed, but that won't happen for another week or two. After that it's off to the paint shop. Will post more pics after all that is done.

As you can see, Dougz Fat Bob fairing, Vance & Hines Big Radius 2-into-1, custom wheels, and new speedo. The pegs, mirrors, and other accessories are from the Kuryakyn "Black" product line.

Here you can see the new mirrors and blacked out levers.

This view shows the detail on the new wheels.

That fairing makes it look menacing. Looking forward to seeing more.

You know, I had mixed feelings about it. The softail was most definitely better on the highway. On a Dyna, 60 feels like 80 on the highway, whereas on the softail 60 feels like 40.

However, the softail is heavier, and to add insult to injury the brakes suck. But the thing that really tripped me up was the difference in handling on the back roads. A Dyna is much more forgiving in the twisties whereas you really have to watch it with the softail or you'll end up in the weeds.

The softail was cool, no doubt about it. But I like the raw feel of the Dyna better.

I did the same thing. I put 33,000 miles on my Softail before getting my Fatbob in '09. Watch out or you'll be ready for a Sportster in a few more years. I added a Seventy-Two to my garage and I couldn't be happier. Talk about raw fun and handling! I love them both and they make perfect stable mates. Congrats on the bob.

I'm in the process of adding a set of West Coast MX bars to my Fat Bob. I'm going with the 8" because I only want them to be a few inches higher than the stock drag bars with risers.

Here's a mock-up with the new bars just resting there to see how they would compare. As you can see, this raises the grips up about 4" or so from where they would be on the stock bars, but no so high that they stick way up above the fairing.

The West Coast MX-Tbars are just a little wider and have slightly more pullback than the regular West Coast Tbars. It's hard to judge without the controls installed, but I believe from an initial comparison that they will be just slightly more narrow than the stock bars. I didn't want them super narrow.

This may end up looking silly, but I guess we're going to find out. I'll post some picks when it's done.

Hurry up and get those things installed, I really want to see how they look and what you think of the feel..........

Thinking of going with some 1 1/2" pro taper's and 2 1/2" riser's, should set up about 1/2" higher than the stock drag's and riser's...........

Can not wait to see what you did.............

Still a work in progress, but it's slowly starting to come together. The fairing should be back from the painter in another week and a few other things are getting powder coated.

West Coast bars are on and feel pretty good.

So far so good.
