I whimped out and picked up the tool for turning them from the dealer. It was only about 10 bucks.

I think you might be talking about the spanner wrench for adjusting stock Harley shocks. There is know tool needed to adjust Progressive 444 model shocks. Just a **** at the top you turn by hand.
Just wondering if you lost any miles per gallon. After you installed V/H pipes, Fuel Tuner & less restricted Air Cleaner on your LR?

My bad, I thought he was referring to the stock ones.

As for my mileage it looks like I may have a small drop but not much. Probably more to having the power and using it. I will have to go on a little highway cruise and a more sedate pace and see what I get. Right now driving at 75 mph or so it is 41 US mpg.

That is good MPG. I am getting a few more MPG. Most of my riding is between 55-60. Not a lot above 65 when commuting to work. I am getting 44-45 MPG. A lot of that has to do with not getting on the throttle too much.

I was thinking it might drop a bit if you richen up the fuel mixture. Yep, one tends to want to twist the throttle more. You have to feel the power and hear that wonderful engine music.
How loud is the V/H's slip-on muffler? Does it come with fiberglass wraped baffle? I'd like to hear the sound of aftermarket pipe (Pipes). But do not want loud.

I guess I will soon find out. I ended up with some left over money we didn't spend on summer vacation so I said the heck with it last night and ordered the Big Shots and a set of quiet baffles.

It is quite a bit louder than stock but far from obnoxious. It has a very deep mellow tone and does not get loud so to speak until you really crack the throttle open. The V&H slip on was always a temp set up for me as I wanted to go a full exhaust system and be cat free. The exhaust baffle is not wrapped but a person could wrap it very easily. The baffle is the whole length of the muffler and is easy to remove.

This bike gets very good gas mileage if you can keep it below 65 mph. In stock condition you will get 48-50 mpg. Just use the outstanding torque of this motor. Shifting at 2,000 rpm through the gears. Cruise at 65 mph in 6th gear and 2,500 rpm.
Great handling and cruising bike.

Do you think by leaving the Cat in your header pipe helps keep the noise level down with your slip-on pipe? The Big Shots will definitely change the look and sound of your LR.

Yes without the cats the V&H slip on would be very loud similar to straight pipes. The inner diameter of the baffle is about 1.5" all the way though.
