DelRider, I would like to know more about the oil cooler that you installed. All three of my previous Touring bikes came with one. I thought it was a little odd that the Dynas do not have them.
For whatever reason, I got this bug up my butt for trying to keep the temps down as much as reasonable. There is a lot of stoplight-to-stoplight riding here so I had the local indy shop install the HD oil cooler listed for the FDXL. The HD model install involves using the front engine mount, and I did not want to get into that level of work on a new bike The only draw back is that there is no fan, so if stopped for extended periods, it may not do as well as other active options. It is also located in front of a harness below the ignition module, so airflow is probably not as optimal as a Jagg or something else that hangs out in the wind. Still, it looks good and is maybe better than nothing. If I ever get a temp gun I'll report back on the actual temps.
Your bike looks great by the way.
Right back atcha. I really struggled with the black versus chrome sissy bar and rack. Looking at your ride I am not sure I made the right choice going with black!
That color really caught my eye and set the wheels in motion. Every color bike I have had to date has been black. I guess I was hankering for something different.
Also installed the FL-VIED, runs much cooler now and has a bit better throttle response. did you notice any difference with the stage 1 download?
I'd like to say yes. But I also got the A/C upgrade too. So it is hard to separate out variables. I don't have any dyno or other hard numbers, so it could all be placebo effect as well. I'm no speed demon, but it really has a nice roll on on feel and seems to effortlessly get around. So I am happy with the combination of things. And these options are still cheaper than a full-on after market fuel management system and dyno dial in.
What level did you set your ViEDs at? I only went to 75% (about 14.0 AFR). Right now I don't see a reason to go to 100%, but might if it shows a benefit.
Cheers

I tried them at 75 for a bit as per night rider recommended, dropped them to 60 to see if fuel mileage improved.. did not notice any difference, still much cooler than without vied, very little decel poping.. I average low to mid 40s on mileage, mostly riding double. I am no hot rod either, but do like to twist right wrist to feel the torque. still have them at 60, may try dropping to 50 just for curiosity.
I traded my 13 Super Glide yesterday for a black Low Rider. Black SE Nightstick and Daymaker headlamp on route. I hope it was a good call on the slip-on. Other's opinions on that would be appreciated. What a tight bike! Even in stock form, the 103 is sweet.
Black SE Nightstick......I hope it was a good call on the slip-on. Other's opinions on that would be appreciated.
As supplied from the dealer it is quiet and really does not sound all that good. I ended up with a 5 disk stack with a Supertrapp stainless steel open end cap and it completely changed the way it sounds......for the better of course.

I wanted to trade my 13 fxdc for a fxdl. but i didn't want to go $4000 and my bike. Oh well, i'm still riding a nice bike, and it's paid for!
