I do agree that is a nice color and I've liked almost all the hard kandy colors. On this bike I'm looking for a color so bright and loud if I get hit and someone says they didnt see me the officer will say please blow into this lol.

My FXDL had done 6,500 miles when I purchased it in November. Today I took it in for its 10,000 mile service. While I was waiting, I took test rides on a 2018 Fat Bob and a 2018 Low Rider. It seemed a good use of time, but I was concerned it might make me dissatisfied with my FXDL. To my surprise and relief, that was not the case; in fact, I appreciate my bike even more and really enjoyed the ride home. Of course, the low down torque of the M8 engine feels great - as does the spread of torque; and it's a lot of fun using the 4,000 to 5,000 rpm band for hacking round lanes - which may explain why M8 riders seem to use those revs a lot, and that seems to be when some experience sumping. The handling and improved ground clearance were also enjoyable. Nevertheless, the ergonomics felt strange to me. I would prefer the foot rests to be further forward on the Fat Bob; a few years ago I really enjoyed test riding a 103 Fat Bob - it felt natural and easy to ride in comparison to the new version. And the mid controls on the M8 Low Rider made it almost impossible for me to raise the jiffy stand, and made me feel as though my knees were in my armpits (not that they were!); in fact, it felt so uncomfortable, I almost took it straight back, but in the end I rode it for about 40 minutes; the two things I preferred to my bike was the lack of ignition switch, and the bars, which put my hands and arms in just the right place. In fact, on neither bike was wind pressure a problem for me even at higher speeds. Nevertheless, getting back on my own bike I realised that I do prefer the riding position of the FXDL (albeit I have forward controls on mine), the handling is actually just fine, and the engine doesn't seem to be so very different in its power delivery to the M8 - and personally I prefer having a bit of vibration to let me know the engine's there, and a bit of a roar from the exhaust. I do not see the appeal of the M8 Low Rider, but I do understand that the M8 Fat Bob might appeal especially to a younger generation of rider. Out of all the M8s I've tried, the Heritage is the one I've most enjoyed, although I struggle to get past the look with the geometric studs. So, although I've not had an opportunity to try one, I'm guessing the new Deluxe is the M8 I'd expect to get if I wanted a new bike. In the meantime, I'm glad to find myself even happier with my 2014 FXDL than I was before today's test rides.

I would have to agree with you, I demoed a new fat bob at the beach recently and didn't love it, in fact i really didn't like it much at all. I demoed the old fat bob a few years ago and thought it was great. I haven't ridden many of the new bikes except for that fat bob, a new heritage, and road king special, all of which i loved except for the fat bob. But I'm not really sold on the engine I think i prefer my 103 honestly. It just feels right to me for some reason. Me and my good friend have lined up my FXDL vs his new road king special with the M8 and much to my surprise the bikes are dead even. I even have about 50 pounds on him, mine is stage 1 and his is slip on only.

Same here. Demo'd a 114 Fat Bob last year. Decent bike but I still like my LR better.

that does suck. Unfortunately i got mine back together after 2 weeks of paint work and hear a ticking in the motor. Took it to my buddy who owns his own shop and did my motor build and he believes same thing I do, lifter going out. So we are tearing it apart and make sure that's all it is. Such fun right.

I hope this question about tires isn't in the wrong thread, but it is about my 2014 FXDL, which I love. Scorchers came stock on my 2014 FXDL, so I assume Harley thinks that's the best choice. I've been happy with them, but had Dunlops on a 1997 FXDL. Should I stick with scorchers at replacement time? My dealer has Dunlops in stock, but not scorchers. Thanks

Personally I hated the Scorchers. I switched to Michelin Commander 2's and never looked back. Going to an independent tire shop, you're liable to save some coin too rather than overpaying the dealer to put their overpriced factory tires on.

Just my 2c.

I had Dunlop American Elites on my Sporty and really liked them. My Low Rider came with a new set of Michelin Scorchers, which I think are the tires it had when new. They've been great so far, including in some rain.
