I know on mine the temp warning is set at 375.09 degree's, you can check that by going to module configuration and clicking on basic setting's......
Boy if you temp/engine light is flashing you must be running really HOT !!!!!!!!!
Let me know how thing's play out with this one ???????

Do you know what base map was installed when your work was completed ????
Base map may be way off from what you actually need .............

I went with the Thundermax when I did my 107' build and it does come on when its overheating. I know because it only happens when in heavy traffic and will go off once I get moving again after like 10 minutes.

I have installed both the cooling fans (Lenale) and oil cooler with fan (Jagg) and I the check engine light rarely comes on when in traffic if I turn the fans on in time. But downside is my right thigh is cooked with the amount of heat that is pushed through.

which says "103 TBW" when you use the decoder (?)

idle rpms: 896rpm
temp warning is set to: 350.12

Hard to believe you can hit 350 degrees in Vancouver! I get freaked out at 300 degrees in Texas. I would definitely try to avoid that high of temperature in any way you find. That idle seems low too, cool sound - yes, practical - no.

It was a warm day, probably as hot as it gets round here... And pretty much stop & go traffic for quite a few blocks thru downtown but nothing that I haven't done l many times before... Not sure how I could avoid it, you think I should talk to my guy about a different map or timing changes?

What would you recommend for idle?

I would bump it to 1000 for idle and I would change my motor oil out after hitting 350 degrees. If you do a lot of stop and go, I would think about an oil cooler or the fans I showed a pic of(my preference over an oil cooler).

He does not want to raise his rpm to 1,000 rpm.......... The motor will run hotter than it is now.........
When idling, the lower the rpm the cooler the cylinder head temps will be............
When he is talking about his temp's, he is talking about the engine cylinder head temps, not oil temp's.
Cylinder head temp's will run anywhere from 315 - 340 on a 103ci with no mod's.
Engine oil temp's will run between 225 - 260.............. with full synthetic oil.
Not to doubt you at all,l but I find it hard to believe that your cylinder head temps are at 300 or below............
I am in no way trying to debate about this, just want the man to have good info to try and cure his issue.......

You can open your TM software and go to EFI Maps, from there you can enter all the data (mod's) you have on the engine, and see if you come up with the same map that is loaded in the TM ECM module............
That would be the easiest way to make sure you have the correct map.......
Do you have the instruction's that came with the TM you purchased ?
If not I can send them to you, or you can go to the TM web site and down load.

That is where I would start, but I do think you could raise the temp setting about 20 degree's............ Mine is set at 370 range per my base map.......

Let me know what you come up with on you map matching ......

There are numerous threads on idle rpm, here and over at the HTT forum. Riders that have lowered their idle rpm below the HD norm of 950 - 1050 have had their Oil Pressure light come on and even if the light did not come on, the oil pressure will be lower than normal and it is not very high to begin with - this is a poor set up for getting oil up to your cylinder heads - HEAT.

Having too low of an idle rpm can also be hard on your battery too.

I would not doubt me on my CHT statement either, with a Power Vision tuner you can monitor CHT constantly and I do. 315 - 340 is not normal, I have never seen nor would I allow my bike to operate there.

I did take a look and map #872 is for an S&S 106, 2-1 pipe with a RS 577 cam and SE throttle body (bigger injectors)... Pretty sure it's the same cam as the current map (I have a fueling 574) but the injectors might be different (definitely different from what's on the bike).

Seems like loading the map (and saving the old one) is easy enough, I'm just a bit unsure about dicking around with the map my indy put on so soon as I'd like him to take care of any issues relating to the build

I found out that the idle speed is the default and recommended by Thunderheart
