if you really dont want to ruin the grip go find some air..
What this guy says.
Make sure the switch housing is loose and doesn't have the grip captive. Double check for set screws in the grip to make sure that's not the trouble. Then, fire up the air compressor and put on a blow nozzle. Take a small screwdriver and pry up the grip, insert the nozzle and blow while twisting the grip off. In the time it took me to type this it'll com off.
Remove the switch housing. There is a lip on the end of the grip that fits into a slot in the switch housing to prevent sliding off. I always use electricians tape on the bars to build up enough size to achieve a tight grip, but some use glue and this is probably what the dealer did. If so heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun a little and twist that sucker off there.
have always used my wifes/girlfriends back in the day hair spray
to hold the grips on.. sticks well and will break loose with air when you
want to get them back off
