I have a pair of VH Staggerd Shortshots on my Bob. The end of the exhaust falls half away on the bike, allowing exhaust gases to blow on the swingarm. In fact, the exhaust can make the swingarm warm. You have to wipe exhaust residue off everytime you ride it. Can the heat or exhaust residue hurt anything.

 

Those are cool looking pipes. How do they sound? They have a pic in this months Thunder Press of a Dyna with thos pipes on it and it really got me thinking.
I can't imagine all that heat being too good for the paint on your swingarm. Wiping it off is no big deal, carry a rag.

I have been running the VH Short Shot Staggereds for a year now and no problems. Just take a wet soapy rag and wash down the swing arm real good. If you have chrome rear axle nut covers make sure you wipe them dwn after every other ride so they don't oxidize.
