Default My Switchback is uncomfortable!

A few months back I traded my 2007 WG (34,000 miles) for a almost new 2013 Switchback. Nice bike... 2500 miles and Stage II with a SE 204 Cam and Supertrapp setup. Love the bike but I have a bad neck (disc problems) and am now leaning forward instead of backward. Bottom line is my neck and shoulders are locked up after 10 miles. I miss my mini apes. I was just so comfy on the WG after 34K together.

Does anyone know if I install mini apes from a WG or the bars from a Heritage if I have to change cables also?

It's been a while since I posted but I'll try to add pics... I know how you guys are!

It might not be a final solution but have you tried rotating your bars back a few inches?

I can't help you on cable lengths or anything but I think a nice set of mini apes would help you out a bunch. Hope you get it squared away, the switchback looks good!

Looks like all you really need are different risers that bring the bars closer.
These should mount with no problem and the cables always have some extra slack considering you are only moving them back.

I installed these on my Super Glide and it made a world of difference. Sitting straighter now as opposed to leaning forward. Perhaps add a back rest for additional support.
One more thing, when I had a Road King with floorboards I added highway pegs to the crash bars and adjusted them so my heels were resting on the floor boards and my toes were resting on the pegs. The combination of backrest, correct bar location and heel/toe location put me in a position that I could ride all day. It does take some experimentation.

Just put a set of HD Heritage bars on my Switchback and didn't have to change any cables. They definitely make a world of difference.

Default +1 Heritage Bars

I tried out some Hollywood bars from a slim cause I love that look. Looked great but killed my back. Ended up going to some heritage bars, slightly pushed forward. Perfect riding position, used stock cables although they are maxed out. I'm 5'8" with t-rex arms.

heritage bars don't require any changes, same if you were to put on the 6" pullback risers.

Reports are that the wrist angle on the heritage bars is uncomfortable (though i haven't tried them personally) so if the feel is there, but you just need them up, i would go with the risers for the extra 2" up. (basically making it into 10" apes.)

anything higher than that and you'll need new cables and wire extenders for the turn signals (or just move them using the road king exhaust studs)
