Default Mini apes vs. t-bars

I am in the process of deciding between Carlini Pist Apes and Westcoast T-bars for my Dyna, and I was reading in another thread that there is a definite difference between the way apes handle compared to t-bars. I thought this topic deserved it's own thread.

Are you saying the t-bars handle a lot better compared to mini apes? How so?

I also notice you put a brace on the forks on your bike. Was this to correct a wobble or something you noticed after putting the bars on?

Anyone else with an opinion on apes or t-bars, please feel free to jump in. The more input the better.

I think it depends what your looking to get out of it. Looks or handling?

If you're looking to make your dyna handle the best it possibly can, go with the t-bars. They are stiffer and rider input is more effectively transferred to the machine.

I think what squidhead is saying is that T-bars handle better, the fairing allows comfortable high-speed cruising, BUT high-speed cruising brings out more handling concerns with the bike. This makes fork braces and chassis stiffening devices more of a worthy investment.

It's a viscous cycle my friend....

Tbars and apes are very different due to how rigid they are. The apes allow flex. If you don't care about comfort or looks I'd say low straight bars will give you the least amount of flex and the most leverage and control. I think you like the high tbars which might give you the same seating as apes, but will feel tighter, less flex. Technically the bike handles the same but your body positioning and feel of the front end will change with the bars. Stability at high speed is about the chassis and tires, bars aren't going to change that unless you mount clip ons and lay on the tank and get under the wind. Pick what you like the look of and then look to get a stabilizer or vibratechnics mount to stiffen up the wobbles. These aren't race bikes, not sure how fast you're looking to go.
