Draged outer primary
A while back I put 11" progressives on my superglide, like the way it feels but even at the begining felt a little too low. Now I have dragged my out primary cover twice since I have gotten more comfortable in turns. Long story short thinking about going up to the 11-1/2" anyone with this experience?
OUCH! That's why I haven't lowered mine, I was scared of that possibility. Sorry that happened, but glad you posted. If you ride hard, and obviously you do, I would go back to stock length. The cornering clearance is more important than the slightly lowered look in my book.
i have the same problem with the stock shocks. my 11 inch progressives are on order too. i have a wrapped thunderheader and once a week i'm out there rewrapping a foot long section of pipe. if your rubbing now i wouldn't bother putting longer ones on. if you feel comfortable enough to drop it down that far now the extra inch in heigth is probley only a 1/4 inch at angle. just do what i/m gonna do when i grind through. pull it off and tig a patch panel over it and fill in the back as much as possible. black spray paint and its all good. if somebody can actually see the spot you fixed after that without laying down to look at it then who cares, your in the ambulance on the way to the hospital at that point. it'sa damn shamethat these dynas handle so good like that.
I am actually going with LONGER rear shocks. I drag my primary, pipes and have even popped the rear axle nut twice when I was utting the power to it in a turn and slid a bit.
Some guys like lowered bike, but guys who ride don't. IMHO.
I did lower the front of my bike to get the weight distrobution better (And it helped a TON) but I will gladly go back up when I get my longer rear shocks.

I have the 11" progressives and have had no problems, but I dont ride a harley like a sport bike either. I think if you like to ride that way you may want to check into a buell or sportbike of some kind.
Trotter, I agree. I started with the SG so my bike was higher than the SB to begin with. The 11" just lower the SG to slightly lower than the stock SB. I would say about .5" Maybe.
