I need the lock, as it got pretty well thrashed, but I can't imagine that is another $500. I'll have to get with my local dealer in person. I got the quote over the phone, and went ballistic. I still think it's too steep, but the prices you found are much closer to reasonable.
State Farm is counting it as two accidents, seeing as how she stopped, then started again.

Or the scratch-and-dent bag on ebay for $300.
All depends on how long it takes your daughter to pay you back.

I priced all the hardware for the mounting system using the parts finder on www.shopronniesharleydavidson.com and then used www.kutterharleyonline.com for prices. For left and right side, total came out to about $400. I already have FLH bags, looks like it will be a winter project for me!

I would go for the bigger bags ,i have fxdc with switchback rear fender .the switchback bags are just too tiny ... I have the cycle vision brackets and modded my own bags , haven't put em on yet ( waiting on paint) but they look good with the switchback fender .my total cost invested including bags , lids , brackets and all hardware is about $600

I had to replace a damaged one on mine. $786shipped from surdyke.com....fully painted. Mine was Big Blue Pearl.
