I recently got tanked (by my daughter, no less) in the right hand saddlebag, which completely shattered it. The stock replacement bag is $1,150 (yes, just one bag). A pair of Street Glide bags is $1,250. I like the SG bags much more, so I'm wondering if anyone here has done the swap. If so, how well did it work? Was there anything you'd do differently this time? Is there some other bag that would work better?
Nope. The deductible is $1,000, and it would give my daughter a second at fault accident.
Back story:
I was coming home from town. Meanwhile, she was headed into town. Her power steering failed, she lost control and wrapped her car around a tree. Due to the adrenaline rush, she tried to keep going, and popped out of the ditch just in time to hit me. She totaled her car for one hit to her insurance (and a $1,000 deductible - not to mention a big bump to her insurance premiums), and I think that's enough penalty. I'm fine, she just brushed my leg (very minor bruising), and I managed to keep the bike upright, so the bag is the only casualty other than her car.
Am I confused or was that all the same accident? If it was shouldn't it be just under the single deductible and not two, and not change her insurance? I'm no insurance expert though.
That being said, aren't the bags longer? If so they may not follow the lines on your Switchback. If you know anyone who has some that you can kind of eyeball maybe....?
I need the lock, as it got pretty well thrashed, but I can't imagine that is another $500. I'll have to get with my local dealer in person. I got the quote over the phone, and went ballistic. I still think it's too steep, but the prices you found are much closer to reasonable.

State Farm is counting it as two accidents, seeing as how she stopped, then started again.
EBay. I've been looking to piece a set of switch back bags to retro fit on my 2014 lowrider. Asked a parts guy at the local Harley dealer and got a quote of over 2 grand for a set.
